There are moments that remind me exactly why I love what I do, and this surprise proposal at Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park was one of them.

Alyse and I had talked about getting together for a shoot while we were both in the area, but before we had anything planned, her mom reached out to officially book me. What Alyse didn’t know was that her mom’s message wasn’t just about photos, it was about planning the sweetest surprise proposal.

When the day came, the Tetons were glowing in soft evening light after a heavy rain, everything about the setting felt calm and timeless. We started out like a normal session, taking portraits with the iconic mountains and Mormon Row barns in the background. Then, right in the middle of it all, her partner dropped to one knee, and the look on Alyse’s face said it all.

Complete shock. Pure joy. There were happy tears, laughter, and so much love, one of those moments that stays with you long after you put your camera down.

Afterward, we wandered around the open fields, letting the Grand Tetons show off their beauty. It was the perfect end to one of the most meaningful sessions I’ve ever captured.
